K. Robert Toy holds a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo College of Law where he served as Chief Justice of the Student Judiciary Counsel.

Bob Toy worked as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Athens County from 1978 to 1992, during which time he was awarded the Outstanding Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Award for the State of Ohio by the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association.

In 1992, he was appointed Athens County Prosecuting Attorney by Governor George Voinovich to serve out the unexpired term of Michael Ward.

Appointed as a special prosecutor, Bob has served in that capacity for Athens County, Gallia County, Meigs County, Morgan County, Perry County, Vinton County, Washington County, and Jackson County.

Mr. Toy is certified by the Ohio Supreme Court to be lead counsel in capital cases. He has been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States of America and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Professional memberships maintained by Mr. Toy include the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Athens County Bar Association.

Bob was also the longtime Solicitor for the Village of Glouster and has served as Solicitor for the City of Nelsonville. He was the corporate attorney for the Sunday Creek Water District.

An active member of his community, Bob Toy is a member of the Athens Kiwanis Club and the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Athens County Historical Society. He is proud of his two children who graduated from Ohio University and are now pursuing professional degrees.

Mr. Toy has tried over two hundred jury trials, including over twenty murder trials, many involving the death penalty.

In addition to his criminal trial experience, Bob has also litigated over seven hundred contested divorce and custody cases in domestic and juvenile courts.

Bob Toy is qualified to handle all felonies and misdemeanors in state and federal courts, has instructed police officers on Constitutional Law and legal procedures, and has contributed as a guest or was interviewed for the TODAY Show, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Columbus Dispatch, ESPN, and other news media outlets.
